Not Everyone Relaxes During Spring Break

Burglars bypassed the door's lock, said Tommy Fratcher, and helped themselves into the home he shares with a roommate in Arkadelphia.

"They came in through here," he said.

Once inside there wasn't much stopping them from getting their hands on all of their expensive belongings.

"I think they kicked our dog out of the way," said Fratcher. "The house was just ran through all the electronics were gone. They knew what they were doing. "

Even though police dusted for fingerprints, the Henderson State students don't have much hope of getting the thousands of dollars worth of electronics back that were stolen during the burglary.

While they're frustrated they knew those possessions are not what's important.

"It's electronics, so no one died or anything," he said. "It could have been worse."

What they do hope, is that their fellow classmates learn from their misfortune and are on high alert.

Especially since the burglars wasted no time taking advantage of less students being in the town.

"Friday was the last day of school and most everyone had taken off," Fratcher said.

Law Enforcement believe burglaries can increase while students are away for spring break and some can be lulled into a false sense of security because they're in a small, close-knit community.

"Small town, quite," he said. "You don't think this kind of thing happens here."

But said he can tell you first hand... it does.
