It's a new year, why not start the year off with a great book, and get rewarded for it!

KARK 4 Today's Mallory Hardin sat down with Susan Gele from the Central Arkansas Library System to talk about a new reading incentive, New Year, New Reads.

New Year New Reads, is an adult winter reading program sponsored by the Central Arkansas Library System. Read or listen to a book, write a review, and submit at the branch, via email to NewYearNewReads@cals.org, or tweet to #NewYearNewReads.

Reviews submitted online are eligible to win a Kindle Fire.  Not necessary to register, but packets of information are available at all branches.  Branches will have door prizes for reviews submitted there.

For more information, watch the interview above, and visit CALS.org

Here is a look at some of the books will want to read during the new year:

Eat This Not That Supermarket Guide - Guide to healthy, inexpensive food choices.  Also includes how to shop the produce aisle - familiar fruits & veggies, and more exotic items like arugula, papaya & pomegranates, amazing meals under $10

Green Weddings - Guide to planning a green wedding. Includes green terminology like carbon footprint, fair trade.  How to make choices that have the least impact on the environment.  Eco-tourism info to help plan the honeymoon.

Dream Eyes - 2nd in a series by Jayne Ann Krentz. A psychic thriller/murder mystery with the main characters developing a relationship together.

Collateral Damage - Latest Stuart Woods Stone Barrington Novel.  Just came out on Monday.  Stone Barrington is a lawyer who worked for the police force before going to work for a law firm investigating cases.  The latest one involves terrorists, bombs, and murder.  25th book in a series that are interconnected.

Hot Picks are copies of new or popular books that cannot be placed on hold or renewed.  Stop by a branch and see what's available.
