Teen Charged with Murder After Neighbor's Body Found in Woods

The Searcy County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) has arrested an 18-year-old and his father after a murder investigation.

According to SCSO, 18-year-old Chris Smith was arrested and charged with first-degree murder after Eddie Covington's body was found in a remote, heavily-wooded area near Witts Springs on Friday.

Sheriff's officials say Covington was reported missing on Jan. 8, and the subsequent investigation led them to Smith, who was Covington's neighbor.

The investigation also led to the arrest of Smith's biological father, 47-year-old Stoney Cox, for numerous weapons and property crime charges, according to SCSO.

Both Smith and Cox are expected to be formally charged on Monday.
