Red Wolves Visit USA Children's & Women's Hospital

As part of a community service project associated with the GoDaddy.com Bowl, several members of the Arkansas State football team took a break Thursday from the practices and events connected to their upcoming bowl game to visit the children at the University of South Alabama Children's and Women's Hospital.
Interim head coach John Thompson and 12 A-State football players visited the children on both pediatric floors and made several stops to individual rooms to visit with the patients. The children had an opportunity to visit with the players, receive gifts, obtain autographs, and have their picture taken with the Red Wolves.
Among the ASU players that visited the USA Children's and Women's Hospital today were Chaz Scales, Ryan Aplin, Taylor Stockemer, Anthony Kincy, Bryce Giddens, Andre Smith, Cody Prater, Neely Sullivent, Tim Starson, Nathan Herrold, Cole Lorigan, and Kedric Murry.
"It was a great experience to come here and see the children and see their eyes light up when we show up in the room," said Stockemer. "It really means a lot to us to get this opportunity. It's very humbling and it brings tears to your eyes when you see kids in this unfortunate position. They are positive and so happy and excited to see us and I'm glad we're able to do that for them."
University of South Alabama Children's & Women's Hospital is among a handful of freestanding hospitals in the United States dedicated specifically to the health care needs of children and women. Its health care professionals are uniquely qualified and equipped to provide a wide range of therapeutic and surgical services for children and women, be it life-threatening illness, traumatic injury, premature birth or high-risk obstetrical and gynecological needs.
