Sunday Services Held in the Dark

The wrath of power outages in central Arkansas are showing no mercy even on those with plans to worship on this Sunday.

A West Little Rock church however moved forward with plans as normal doing it in the dark.

Hundreds of people, some likely without power themselves, showed up with a bible in one hand and a candle in the other.

The Crystal Hill Baptist Church in West Little Rock was completely dark.

Prayers for the electric companies out working could be heard in the sermon.

Pastor of the church, Larry Ballard, had a busy week "fixing up generators, carrying out water, food and little heaters." All the while knowing, as the marquee clearly displayed, his place of worship remained lights out.

He still knew however that wouldn't keep them from having Sunday service.

"It's about him not about us," Pastor Ballard said. "We believe this is the day the lords made and we're gonna rejoice and be glad in it."

With the help of a heater and a few candles Sunday service at this church -- on -- with the lights off.

The church is located on Lawson Road just off Colonel Glenn. We do know that Entergy had contracted crews out there working to repair lines.
