Campus police officers are suing Pulaski Technical College for back pay for the last three years.

According to the lawsuit, three officers claim they were routinely told to work through their lunch breaks for those three years.

A spokesman for Pulaski Tech says the college cannot comment on pending lawsuits, but the attorney representing the officers says this is the first case where state employees, under Arkansas labor laws, can sue their employer, the State.

"In a lot of situations the State has immunity, they have 11th amendment immunity but under the Arkansas Minimum Wage Act it actually does allow you to sue the state as your employer," says Amber Schubert, an attorney in Little Rock.

Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel is representing the college in this suit.
