Family Provides Insight into Mind of Suspected Cop Shooter

The Rogers police officer who was shot is expected to be okay, but we wanted to learn more about the man police said pulled the trigger.

22-year-old Gregory Lance Duffy's brother and close friend said while he made a terrible choice, Duffy was a good person who had lost his way.

"He's a free little soul now that can be happy and not have to hurt anymore," said Chad Daulton, Duffy's brother.

According to investigators Duffy shot a Rogers police officer on Wednesday and then took his own life.

Daulton said his brother was generous, positive, a prankster, a goofball, and often misunderstood.

"He'd never ever inflict pain or hurt anybody else...In the last few years he kind of slipped off into a darker place."

Daulton also said his brother had attempted suicide in the past and that his family tried to get him help.

"Some people are just in a place that they can't come out of."

Daulton believes Duffy thought shooting at Corporal Jeff Pollock was his way out.

"I think he was having trouble getting the courage to pull the trigger on himself, but, you know, thinking that if he shoots at the cop, that the cop will do it."

While Daulton is grateful Pollock will be okay, he says it is hard to see people coming to conclusions about his brother without knowing him.

"If you don't know somebody, you don't know the demons they have inside. You don't know how much trouble they're having."

Duffy's close friend Orel Ruano said he never saw this coming.

"It saddens me, you know, to the deepest part of my heart...He was kind of a one-of-a-kind person."

Both Daulton and Ruano want people to know who Lance Duffy truly was.

"He wasn't out to hurt anybody else, but himself."

"I don't want people to think the last thing he did was the only thing he did in life. There was a good guy in there."

Daulton said his whole family is still struggling, but that they truly believe Lance Duffy is now in a better place.

He shot a cop, how the hell is he still considered a "GOOD" person, sounds to me like he got what was coming to him and he is noe anything but a little angel
