UPDATE: St. Peter Catholic School to Close

By: Brittney Johnson
Updated: May 4, 2012
St. Peter Catholic School in Pine Bluff will be closing, according to a release from the school.

The decision is based on the low pre-registration enrollment. As of May 1, only 37 students were registered for the fall.

Eleven employees are expected to lose their positions.

The school will maintain a regular school calendar through May 25. The school currently has 58 students in pre-kindergarten to sixth grade, five teachers and four staff members.

St. Peter School was one of the oldest Catholic schools in the state.

(This corrects a previous version of the story that indicated St. Joseph Catholic School would be closing)
