Report: Iowa Caucuses Could Be January 5th

By: Newsroom Solutions
Updated: October 7, 2011
Iowa wants to retain its "first in the nation" status in the presidential caucuses.

Republicans in the state are looking to hold the caucuses on January 5th.

Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Matt Strawn tells the "Des Moines Register" they have not made a decision yet.

They're considering the date after Nevada, Florida and South Carolina all moved their primaries up ahead of the planned date for Iowa.

Those moves are in violation of Republican National Committee rules.
