Sarah Palin won't be joining the race for the White House.

She announced her decision yesterday in a letter to supporters.

There was broad speculation that the former Alaska governor would seek the nomination.

Palin cites family in her decision and says she will focus on supporting other conservative political candidates.

She pledged to continue, "driving the discussion for freedom and free markets."

Palin rose to national prominence as John McCain's vice presidential running mate in 2008.
