Three Democrats Aim to Unseat Crawford in District 1

Three Democrats are aiming to be the candidate to try and unseat Republican Rick Crawford in Arkansas' 1st Congressional District.

Three Democrats will appear on the May 22 primary: State Rep. Clark Hall of Marvell, Prosecutor Scott Ellington of Jonesboro, and ASU professor Gary Latanich.

Hall is a longtime farmer who says his goal is to put the "first" back into the 1st District and place people ahead of special interests.

Ellington is a prosecutor who says his campaign is about three things: jobs, jobs, jobs. Ellington says he plans to bring common sense to Washington.

Latanich has lived in Jonesboro and worked at ASU since 1981. He worked on Governor Clinton's Economic Advisory Board and is a former Contributing Economics Editor for the Jonesboro Sun.

As noted above, the winner will face Republican Rick Crawford. Crawford is seeking his second term. He faces no GOP opposition in the primary.

The 1st District starts on north-central Arkansas and continues throughout the greater Jonesboro area.
