Sequester Threatens Funds for Domestic Abuse Victims

From the Department of Defense to defending victims of domestic violence, the sequester is expected to impact thousands of Arkansans.
Organizations helping people trying to get out of dangerous domestic violence situations stand to lose over $60,000. Advocates say it's a tough blow for agencies already suffering from federal and state budget cuts this year.
"It's a matter of life and death for some victims, being able to access services and not be judged and have help when they reach out, especially for the first time, so it's vital when they're get out of the situation they're in," says Rebecca Riley, development coordinator for Arkansas Coalition Against Domestic Abuse.
Riley says two organizations were forced to close their doors this year because of lack of funds.
