Push to Require Drug Testing for Unemployment Benefits Sees Slight Setback

By: KARK 4 News

A push to require random drug testing in order to receive unemployment benefits in Arkansas took a step backward on Wednesday.

State law requires an individual collecting unemployment to be "actively seeking a job."

Senator Jeremy Hutchinson says that's not happening if you fail a drug test, but he was unable to say how much randomized testing will cost the state in committee on Wednesday.

Now the senator says he plans to bring the bill back to the committee soon.
