Benton Police: Two Suspects Caught Stealing from Business

The Benton Police Department has arrested two suspects it says officers caught in the act of burglarizing a business.

It happened shortly after midnight Monday morning along Highway 35 South.

Officers were called to the scene for a report of a suspicious vehicle. When police arrived, they watched two men loading items into a truck they had backed up to the business.

Donald Ball, 51, and Joshua Howman, 22, were arrested at the scene.

Police say Ball and Howman were stealing the items because they (mistakenly) believed they were owned by somebody who owed them money for illegal narcotics.

The property found in their possession was returned to the owner and they were taken to the Saline County Detention Facility.

Both are both charged with Residential Burglary and Unauthorized Use of Another Person's Property to Facilitate a Crime. Police say Ball was out of prison on parole.
