New Year's Holiday Means Increased Patrols for Little Rock Police

By: KARK 4 News
Updated: December 31, 2012
The New Year's holiday means increased patrols for the Little Rock Police Department (LRPD).

The LRPD says in an effort to keep the road ways and community safe tonight and tomorrow, it's assigned mobile units to help with the potential increase in call load related to (celebratory) shots fired*.

Anyone who fires a gun in celebration of the New Year could face a number of weapons charges, according to police. The LRPD says those charges will be given as applicable.

In addition, officers who are trained in Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) will be on patrol to assist officers with suspected DUI and DWI driving-related incidents.

The LRPD tells everyone to stay safe and remember that if you do plan to drink, be sure you have a designated driver who won't be drinking to get you to and from your destinations.
