The Mayor of Gould and his family are staying with relatives and awaiting help from the Red Cross following a devastating house fire early yesterday.

Mayor Earnest Nash says the fire started around 1:00 a.m. yesterday morning.

Nash credits his 11-year-old son with waking everyone up and getting them out of the home.

It happened at 305 West Jefferson, in Gould.

The mayor says he believes the fire may have started in the attic.

Fire crews from Grady and Gould responded, but the home was a total loss.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
