"We're going from Atlanta all the way to Las Vegas," said Daniel Guillen-Pizzorni who said he knew the road trip was ill timed because of the holiday, but not that Hurricane Isaac would push prices up even higher.
"We knew we were going to be doing it during labor day so we knew it was going to be higher than usual, but we didn't know this high," he said.
Nationally AAA has gas prices around $3.83.
Locally they were closer to $3.70.
"I think it's gouging," said Jim Haley.
Although on a smaller scale hi motorcycle makes him feel a little pain at the pump.
"It's just an excuse to drive the price up," he said. When asked whether it was the hurricane or the holiday he replied, "Both."
"Well it makes everybody mad but you can't do anything about it just have to live with it," said Gary Harris.
Instead of just living with it, some drivers say they have to tighten their belts in other places.
Like Cari Leonard who said it means spending less time with her family who live in Russellville.
"The more expensive they get the less I get to go see them," she said.
Showing how high prices can really hit people close to home.
