National Park Birthday Offers Opportunities for Fun in Hot Springs

Hot Springs National Park will celebrate the 96th birthday of the National Park Service by offering special programs and tours this weekend.

The events will run from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. this Saturday, August 25.

Olly, Olly Oxen Free

From 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. children and parents, guardians and chaperones join a park ranger at the Gulpha Gorge Campground for a morning of fun and games.

Activities will include sack races, jumping rope, Baggo, flying hoops, and more. Bring a lunch to picnic afterward at the peaceful setting of Gulpha Gorge.

Fordyce Bathhouse Tour

From 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. there will be a presentation on the Fordyce Bathhouse.

Let's Move Outside, Get Your Hike On!

From 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. visitors can join a ranger for an hike to the Hot Springs Mountain Tower.

The hike departs from the porch of the Hot Springs National Park Visitor Center in the Fordyce Bathhouse.
Participants should bring sturdy shoes and water.

 Round trip hike will be approximately 1 mile.

From3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. there will be a second chance to take a look at the Fordyce.
