PCSSD Cafeteria Lunch Prices Rise, Menu Items Change

PCSSD students can look forward to higher lunch prices and other changes in the cafeteria as they head back to school.
Lunch prices are rising 15 cents per meal and the district is also getting rid of all sugary juices. Per new USDA standards, students will only be able to choose from milk or water, popular fruit juices will be available a la carte.
The district is continuing it's lunch credit program although cutting it out for high school students. High school kids who forget their lunch money will not be able to charge it to the schools, while middle and elementary school students will be allowed three charges before they're turned away.
"Very often these are kids will not qualify for free or reduced lunch, they are simply charging and we also found out students save the money and will spend it after school at the store on candy or soft drinks, we're not sure parents know what's going on," said PCSSD Superintendent Dr. Jerry Guess.
Dr. Guess says the district still has $90,000 in unpaid lunch tabs from last year. District leaders are encouraging parents to return paperwork for students who qualify for free and reduced lunch as soon as classes start.

the district is not cutting out the reduced lunches they are stopping the kids from charging their food. I called my childs school because he didnt take food or money to school. Please call and make sure the story is right and worded in a way that people will know what is going on
