Even Refreshing Activities Too Hot During Extreme Temperatures

The lines at Wild River Country are not nearly as long as usual.

Which could be a sign that it's a Tuesday, but staff here said they think it's more than that.

"Weekdays have been a little bit level," said Dana Addison with Wild River Country.

They say the triple digit heat means people stay away... at least until Saturday rolls around.

"Weekends I think people are bound and determined to get out and do active things," Addison said.

"Drinking lots of water, staying inside," Nick Stillwell said he's been spending a lot of time indoors, but when he does make it out to the park he's never far from the shade and refreshment stand.

" They actually have a sweet shack here and you can get some ice cream," he said.

Inside a near-by snow cone stand David Lepine takes advantage of the air conditioning.

He's working the stand before he leaves for college and says when it gets really hot less people come out.

"It's too hot to get out, they just want to stay home," he said.

The people who do make it out he said can get pretty creative when it comes to trying to steal the little cold air he has.

"Some people get their entire torso up in the shack and that always surprises me," he said.

Trying to squeeze into a snow cone stand or waiting in line for that one refreshing splash.

Everyone's just trying to keep cool.
