Atkins Fire
Pope County fire crews contained a fire in Atkins after intense heat.
A fire sparked around two Tuesday afternoon in the Pea Ridge community.
Over 140 homes were evacuated while cattle and livestock were also let out of their fields for safety.
Fire crews were running out of water and relied on tankers hauling water from other counties, a plane, and helicopter with a 500 gallon bucket of water.
It took crews over five hours to contain the fire, which burned over 300 acres of land.
LRSD Principal Shuffle
The decision to transfer principals in the Little Rock School District stands.
LRSD Superintendent Dr. Morris Holmes made the announcement Tuesday.
In all, 17 schools will have newly assigned principals for the 2012-2013 school year, and all but one were accomplished by transfers.
