Update: Hot Springs Man Arrested for Estelle Street Killing

Update (Wednesday):
Hot Springs Police have arrested a local man for a Sunday homicide on Estelle Street.

Jacorei Thornton, 25, is charged with one count each of capital murder and attempted murder, in the shooting death of Randy Shinkle of Hot Springs.

Detectives also arrested Edna August, 34, of Hot Springs on a hindering apprehension charge.

Both are being held without bond at the Garland County Detention Center.

Original Story (Sunday):
Authorities in Hot Springs are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday.

Police discovered Randy Shinkle, 27, dead in a vehicle in the 400 block of Estelle Street shortly after midnight.

A passenger in the vehicle was also injured and treated for non-life threatening injuries at a hospital.

A news release from the Hot Spring police department makes no mention of suspects. The incident remains under investigation.
