UPDATE: Severe Storms Leave Damage Across Parts of Arkansas

By: KARK 4 News
Updated: June 3, 2012
Severe storms swept through Central Arkansas Sunday evening causing some scattered damage from high winds and hail.

Damage was reported in the small Van Buren County town of Shirley. Initial reports ranged from trees and powerlines down to some structural damage.

The American Red Cross reported its crews were headed to Independence County after reports of trees on homes as well as some house fires. According to one of their tweets, they were told roughly a dozen homes were damaged.

The system also dropped large hail on portions of North-Central Arkansas. KARK received numerous pictures of small hail on our Facebook page. In some cases, the hail was quite large. The Smithville Fire Department in Lawrence County reported hail nearly the size of softballs.

To send us your pictures of the storm, post them on the KARK Facebook page.
