In recent months the South Main neighborhood has seen several new local-food related businesses open, including a classic style soda fountain and ice cream shop.

The eclectic South Main neighborhood may no longer have Juanita's, but Midtown remains, the Oxford American magazine has moved in, and nearby theres a beautiful bed-and-breakfast with a ghostly reputation.

Anita Davis owns several buildings in the area.

For years she has devoted energy and resources to bringing businesses, and patrons to the area.

For her latest project, she is calling on the talents of Steven Otis.

He is creating a work of art that is more than 20 feet tall and 70 feet wide.

It goes along with a food theme for the area, where nearby are several popular locally owned restaurants as well as a neighborhood farmers' market.

The painting depicts a fantasy world of veggies coming to life, dancing to a tune sung by cornbread.

That part of the work is inspired by the cornbread festival on South Main in the fall.
