9/11 Anniversary "Report Card"

By: NBC News
Updated: September 11, 2012
Ten years after the September 11 attacks, America is still vulnerable to similar catastrophes, according to a report released Wednesday.

The report released by the Bipartisan Policy Center is a tenth anniversary "report card" on the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission.

In 2004, the Commission made 41 recommendations for improving U.S. safety and preparedness in the face of a terrorist attack. According to the report, nine of those are still unfinished. Most notably, the ability to detect explosives which could bring down a plane is still limited and communications problems among emergency responders have not been remedied.
