Celtic Knots
The true meanings of Celtic knots is a bit sketchy. Some are said to be for strength and protection others eternity. Some suggest that they represented the Otherworld to the Celts and the intricate unbreakable bonds that tie all together in such mystical unions of nature. Examples of this might be the shore in relation to the sea & land and twilight to night & day. The Celtic knot can be found in art, religious symbols, and jewelry native to Ireland.It is possible that the Gordian knot a puzzle supposedly presented to Alexander the Great may have been based on the Celtic knot. He was told that if he was able to break it he would rule the east. He did break it but not in an expected way. He became frustrated with it and broke it with his sword. Alexander considered this one of his greatest victories.
