The Natural State's former first daughter will be honored for her contributions to the performing arts at Ballet Arkansas' Spring Gala in April.

Chelsea Clinton will receive the "Above the Barre" award because of her appreciation for dance as an art form, that began here in Arkansas.

As a young girl, Chelsea performed with Ballet Arkansas and appeared in several of its productions of The Nutcracker.

Ballet Arkansas' executive director says Chelsea understands that the performing arts holds great value to communities, whether economically, educationally or socially.

Chelsea will be presented the award on April 26.

If you would like to attend, call Ballet Arkansas at (501) 223-5150 for ticket information.
