Garland County Man in Surgery after Neighbor Shot Him in Stomach

In Garland County-

James Southard, 62, is in surgery after being unexpectedly shot by his neighbor today.

According to police reports, 74-year-old Clarence Lewis walked into Southard's yard and without warning shot Southard in the stomach with a small cailber handgun. 

Southard was able to get the handgun away from Lewis and used it to strike Lewis.

Southard is in surgery with unknown injuries and Lewis was treated for lacerations to the head and released.

 Lewis is being charged with Criminal Attempt at first-degree murder, a class A felony, and is being held at the Garland County Detention Center.

This is all the information Garland County Police have because the victim is in surgery and the suspect refuses to cooperate.
