Heavy rain causing problems on roadways in Monticello.

Crews filled the eight-foot hole on Garnet Road early this morning but not before it sucked in a car nose-first.

Another truck had already driven over it causing significant damage.

Deputy Brian Slaughter of Drew County Police said, "Fortunate no one was injured but they were pretty shook up pretty scared and you can understand the road just fell out from under them. They didn't know what was going on until there was no road anymore."

As a temporary fix, crews filled the hole with a mixture of asphalt, dirt and big rocks.

The road however, remains blocked.

The county says they will likely spend thousands of dollars permanently repairing the hole once the weather clears up.
