Black Friday is over, and Small Business Saturday is also coming to a close.

Business owners hoped the day would encourage shoppers to pay their businesses a visit during the busy shopping weekend -- especially since many usually flock to malls and large retail chains.

Small Business Saturday was created two years ago by American Express to encourage customers to spend some of their Holiday Cash at local shops.

Store Manager Sally Mengel says, "It's supporting your community -- the dollar goes back to your neighborhood more -- and also supporting our friends that make things, and sharing them with other people, and having a place where people can sell their things. People really seem to be grateful for that."

Some small businesses have deals through the weekend and into Monday in recognition of Small Business Saturday.
