Already one of the strongest brands on the internet, the athletic department's website, Twitter feed (@ArkRazorbacks) and Facebook page (ArkansasRazorbacks) will be joined by several new outlets for fan interaction. Currently, the ArkansasRazorbacks on Facebook has more than 335,000 fans while the main athletic department Twitter feed boasts nearly 40,000 followers.
"We have had tremendous success engaging our fans through social media," Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long said. "We have an active online community and this is a great way to share information and get feedback. With our new partnership, we will be able to expand our interaction with the Razorback Nation in a variety of ways including integrating social media into the game day experience. We will also be able to more effectively get students and fans involved in all aspects of our program by providing incentives through our RazorRewards program."
The Razorback fan experience is now sport-specific with individual team accounts on Facebook and Twitter, aiming to strengthen the brand and allow more interaction.
The Razorback Athletic Department partnered with Lodestone Sports to provide all 19 programs the necessary tools to increase fan engagement.
Some of the enhanced experiences include more interactive content at football, basketball and baseball games where fans have the ability to tweet photos for the big screen, vote on polls, music and more. In addition, fans can log on to ArkansasRazorbacks.com and click on the social media link, your one-stop shop for all of the Facebook and Twitter pages for the teams and coaches.
With Tuesday's announcement, fans can enjoy all 14 of the individual team's Facebook pages. The athletic department will roll out each sport's individual Twitter accounts in the coming weeks, but fans can follow the track and field account @RazorbackTF now and keep up with the Razorbacks at the Olympics.
Along with the increased presence of social media, fans are also invited to take advantage of the relaunch of the RazorRewards program utilizing the ever-expanding technology.
RazorRewards is open to students and fans who can earn points by promoting the team on Facebook and Twitter, checking into events and more. Prizes will be awarded throughout the year as well. To sign up for an account, log on to MyRazorRewards.com.
