The American Cancer Society needs volunteers to participate in a new study.

Arkansas has been selected to take part in the American Cancer Society's Cancer Prevention Study 3.

Studies 1 and 2 have already been completed.

The 3rd is a way for people to be able to participate from home all except for the initial sign up phase.

They are looking for people between the ages of 30 and 65, who have never had cancer before, to take part in what will be a long-term study.

You can be any race, size and even be diagnosed with another disease.

On the day you show up for enrollment, you will be asked to take a short survey, give a little bit of blood and provide a waist measurement.

The next part of the study will be something you can do at home, fill out a survey about your lifestyle and genetics every few years.

You will have to do this over the next 20 to 30 years.

What they are hoping to find is what is actually is causing cancer and what could prevent it based on where you live, how much you exercise and other health related factors.

Enrollment will take place August 8th-11th at various locations around the area.

For more information on locations go to www.cps3centralarkansas.org.
