Newark, New Jersey Mayor Cory Booker first suggested the attacks on Bain Capital were on shaky ground. Then he backtracked.

Here's what Newark Mayor Cory Booker said on Meet The Press Sunday, about President Obama's ad attacking Mitt Romney's record at his investment firm Bain Capitol, "This to me, I'm very uncomfortable with," said Mayor of Newark, NJ, Corey Booker.

Romney's team quickly released a web ad using comments from Booker's appearance on Meet The Press saying the American public was fed up with the attack ads, calling them "nauseating."

But later on YouTube, and the Rachel Maddow Show, Booker said his comments were taken out of context. "If anybody listens to the entire Meet the Press and they want to stand with me, they'll see that I stand firmly with the President," argued the embattled mayor of Newark.

The President himself, wrapping the NATO Summit, found himself defending why he thinks Bain's record on job creation is fair game. "If the main basis for him suggesting he can do a better job is his track record as the head of a private equity firm, then both the upsides and the downsides are worth examining." President Barack Obama

But Republicans say Romney wasn't even there when the deal was struck on that company in the President's ad. Plus, they argue - most companies Bain took over were successful: "Seventy-eight percent or more survived went on were very prosperous and productive and jobs were created and people kept their jobs."
