More cuts have come for the employees of programs formerly run by Child Development, Inc. (CDI) of Russellville.

Community Development Institute took over operations of Head Start and Early Head Start programming when CDI realized it had a financial shortfall after being unable to meet payroll back in January.

Community Development Institute, announcing to employees that a cost analysis revealed that Head Start and Early Head Start services being offered as they are now would need to be modified to live within the revenue received from the federal government.

According to Community Development, the funding offered by the government falls $2 million short to cover operations as they were designed by CDI.

Some of the programming changes include cutting an hour from program operations, closing all Head Start classrooms for the summer, closing Early Head Start (EHS) in July and August and consolidating EHS to fewer sites. DCC early and after care is also being eliminated.

Specific staff changes include reducing work hours for employees to 35 hours per week in August, EHS staff will be assigned 48 weeks per year beginning July, and an increase in the amount staff pay for health insurance.
