State funds are being slashed for one school district in South Arkansas, causing the district to make cuts.
Norphlet School District has cut seven teacher positions at the district's elementary and high school to avoid being put on the state's fiscal distress list.
The superintendent says he made the decision after speaking with the state education department.
"People are upset, I understand that," says Superintendent Dr. Albert Snow, "Anytime you affect a person's livelihood, there going to be upset about that and I understand."
Elimination's go into affect at the beginning next school year.
