Matt Bortis Named SEC Golfer of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. ? Arkansas golfer Matt Bortis was named the SEC Golfer of the Week the conference office announced on Friday after his third-place finish at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate on Tuesday. The Springfield, Mo., native finished in a tie for third place with a 3-under-par 213. Bortis opened the tournament with a 1-over-par 73 but vaulted back into medalist contention with a 3-under-par 69 in the second round. His final round 71 cemented his 3-under-par 213, which is his second-lowest total in relation to par this season. It was Bortis? second top-five finish of the season and the sixth of his career. His second-round 69 was his sixth round of the season in the 60s and the 21st of his career. Bortis leads the team with a 72.3 scoring average, which ranks third in the SEC. The Razorbacks head to the Thunderbird Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, April 8-9, for their final tuneup prior to the SEC Tournament later this month.
