There is a serious weight epidemic in America.
Over 35% of the population are identified as being obese.
Being significantly overweight increases the risk of heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and osteoarthritis as well as many other chronic problems.
Also of great concern is the stigma of being overweight that does much to make the problem worse. Problems big people face include:
1. Discrimination in every walk of life.
2. Difficulties in getting jobs
3. Low Self Esteem (many are ashamed and embarrassed about their weight)
4. More Sedentary lives
5. Greater risk of depression
