Razorback Golfers Begin Play at the CordeValle Collegiate on Monday

SAN MARTIN, Calif. - The Arkansas mens golf team opens play at the CordeValle Collegiate on Monday, Oct. 31 at the CordeValle Country Club host by fifth-ranked UCLA. The CordeValle Country Club is 7,169 yards in length and is setup as a par-72 layout. It will be the final tournament of the fall schedule for the Razorbacks and their first-ever trip to the CordeValle Collegiate, which is scheduled for 36 holes on Monday, Oct. 31 and 18 holes on Tuesday, Nov. 1. The Hogs will send junior Matt Bortis, junior Beau Glover, sophomore Eric Shriver, sophomore Scotty Campbell and Arkansas lone senior Josh Farrell to the first tee box on Monday morning. The grouping represents the most experienced and seasoned golfers the Razorbacks have to offer. Bortis 71.3 scoring average leads the Razorbacks with Glover close behind with a 72.0 stroke average. Bortis and Glover are the only Hogs to play in all four fall tournaments. Eric Shriver (73.2) is participating in his third event of the fall, while Campbell is making his second appearance and Farrell his first. The event features 15 teams, including five from the Pacific-10 Conference, and six teams representing half a dozen other major conferences. Arkansas is the lone SEC school participating in the event. Nine of the teams are ranked in the Top 50 in the latest GolfWeek poll. Twelve players, including defending NCAA individual champion James Lepp of Washington, are also ranked in the Top 50. Along with Arkansas, the field is comprised of No. 5 UCLA, No. 43 Arizona, No. 25 Augusta State, California, No. 16 Northwestern, No. 22 Notre Dame, No. 17 Pepperdine, Stanford, No. 29 Texas, Central Florida, North Carolina, No. 50 USC, Virginia and No. 11 Washington.
