FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Razorback cross country team will start the 2005 season on Friday night when they host the Arkansas Invitational. The four-mile race, set to begin at 7:30 p.m., will be held at the Razorback Cross Country Course at Agri Park. Missouri Southern State University will be traveling to Fayetteville to take part in the dual meet and the competition provides the Hogs an excellent opportunity to get their feet wet before they enter the meat of their schedule. "Its still very early in the season, but this is a good time to see where the guys are in their conditioning," Arkansas head coach John McDonnell said. "We have a very deep team this year and well have guys fighting to get in the lineup. This will be an opportunity for them to start proving themselves." Eight Arkansas athletes will be running, including last years meet winner senior Luis Bordes. Cross Country All-American senior Josphat Boit will lead the charge, with seniors Jose Campos, Josh Robles and Seth Summerside following close behind. A trio of sophomores will also take to the trail including Shawn Forrest, Tyler Hill and Jonathan Norris. The Missouri Southern Invitational is next on the schedule for the Hogs. They will travel to Joplin, Mo., for the 8K contest on Sept. 17. The highly competitive Iona College Meet of Champions will follow in Bronx, N.Y. on Sept. 24.
