Hog Signee Offered More Money

Updated: November 10, 2006
Razorbacks signee Kyle Hancock is still in heavy negotiations with the Colorado Rockies. The Rowlett, TX pitcher signed with Arkansas, but was drafted by the Rockies in the 3rd round of the MLB Amateur Draft. He originally said it would take $800,000 to go pro. Colorado offered about half of that. Since that time they`ve come up to $500,000 and are still negotiating. Hancock believes they`ll come up even more by the end of the week. Insiders tell KNWA they`ll probably get up to a $600,000 signing bonus which may be enough to convince the pitcher to turn pro. The Razorbacks aren`t counting on anything. Pitching coach Dave Jorn has been on the road all summer looking for pitching prospects. Hancock believes he`ll get his final offer from the Rockies on Friday and plans to make a decision at that time.
