Scott Hode Selected in 24th Round of MLB Draft by Cubs

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Arkansas shortstop Scott Hode was selected in the 24th round of the Major League Baseball Draft on Wednesday by his hometown Chicago Cubs. Hode, a native of Crystal Lake, Ill., was a four-year starter at shortstop for the Razorbacks. He finished his career fourth in career at bats (776) and 11th in career hits (219). He played in four NCAA regionals, two super regionals and the 2004 College World Series. "Im living my dream right now," Hode said. "I really didnt expect this to happen, but I am really excited and looking forward to playing for the Cubs organization." Hode was chosen with the 730 overall pick of the draft after hitting a career-best .309 in his senior season. He finished his Arkansas career with a .282 batting average in 210 games. He scored 102 runs, collected 219 hits with 53 doubles, four triples, 13 home runs and 125 RBI. Hode started 206 games in a Razorback uniform and 205 of those starts were at shortstop. Hode was the first Arkansas player selected in the 2005 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft. Former Razorback Scott Bridges was selected in the eighth round on Monday by the San Francisco Giants.
