NLR Church Preaching More Than The Gospel Sunday

For many, the Greater New Bibleway church is a beacon in this downtrodden neighborhood.
"Women in this community where our church is located face many adversities."
They come for many reasons, to worship, and to get their spirits lifted.
But Sunday they came wearing red. Which is something you see a lot during the month of February but, as Sister June Jospeh said, it's more than promoting awareness it's a positive call to the women in their congregation.
"Strengthen their hearts, protect their hearts, and live longer lives."
So in the middle of worship, a registered nurse, offered heart healthy tips.
You'd be hard pressed to find someone in the congregation unaffected by the disease.
People like Reola Perry, a mother of four boys who said it makes sense for her congregation, in a largely low income neighborhood, to promote wellness not just of the spirit but of the body.
"There's a lot of families that feel like their health isn't important or that they can't get the care they need."
Using service time to promote a healthy congregation, is what Perry said religion is all about.
"Because that's what our church is founded on, love. Love in the community, loving people."
