A football Razorback has been arrested on drunk driving charges.

Senior Razorback defensive end, Austin Flynn, 22, was booked into the Washington County Jail on several charges Wednesday, including driving while intoxicated.

Flynn was arrested overnight near Huntsville Road and Happy Hollow Road.

Police say they first spotted him speeding and driving erratically on MLK Boulevard near College Avenue.

Officers say Flynn told them he had just dropped off some friends on Dickson Street and was headed home. But when police asked for his registration, they say Flynn mistakenly handed over a previous traffic warning.

Officers say Flynn admitted to drinking two beers earlier and also say he later failed two sobriety tests. A breath test showed his blood alcohol level at .14-percent, police say.

Flynn also aces charges of careless and prohibited driving and driving without insurance.

Statement from Coach Bielema

I am aware of the situation involving Austin Flynn, and I am disappointed in his actions. I will review the matter and it will be handled swiftly and decisively. Our student-athletes will understand there will be discipline in our program and will learn the responsibility they have in representing Arkansas in the right way. We will hold our student-athletes accountable for their actions at all times and character and integrity will always be a priority. Within our program, we will learn just as many life lessons through our failures as we will through our future success.

Comments

Very disappointed in this young man. I hope that Coach B does teach a lesson that all of the Razorbacks will think twice about before they do something this stupid.
