NLR Police Report Drop in Crime

By: Dustin Barnes
Updated: February 6, 2013
North Little Rock police say crime was down 2.5 percent in 2012 when looking at the same time period in 2011.

Violent crimes are down nearly 12 percent. Aggravated assaults are down the nearly same percentage.

However, police say the numbers are up in property crimes.

They tell FOX16 it's mainly because people won't look their vehicles. Thieves take advantage of that and take what they can.

"We're trying to educate the public with our neighborhood meetings. We're trying to make them be aware. Don't leave these valuables in vehicles because if there are no valuables in there, nothing can be stolen," Sgt. Brian Dedrick said.
