It really pays to be a coach on Head Hog Bret Bielema's staff.

The University of Arkansas has released the salary amounts for the coaches hired by Bielema. The pay is a big increase over what the previous staff made last season.

The difference is at least $200,000 more for the on-the-field coaches, with one hire remaining on Bielema's staff.

Here is a breakdown of the money being paid to the eight assistant coaches already hired:
  • Jim Chaney, Offensive Coordinator, $550,000
  • Chris Ash, Defensive Coordinator, $550,000
  • Charlie Partridge, Defensive Line Coach, $350,000
  • Randy Shannon, Linebackers Coach, $315,000
  • Ben Herbert, Strength and Conditioning Coach, $300,000
  • George McDonald, Wide Receivers Coach, $275,000
  • Sam Pittman, Offensive Line Coach, $275,000
  • Taver Johnson, Cornerbacks Coach, $250,000
  • Joel Thomas, Running Backs Coach, $235,000
The final hire for Bielema's staff, a tight end coach, should be made in the coming days.

Coach Bielema's salary is $3.2-million.
