Ringing in the New Year means ringing up a lot of sales for local liquor stores.

From champagne to sparkling wines, some stores expect to see more than 10 thousand dollars in sales come across their counters today.

"It's been very steady since before the hour we opened," Hillcrest Liquor employee Jim Randle said, laughing. "It's good when it's steady like that."

While Hillcrest Liquor never lost power during the recent winter storm, employees have run the store without electricity before by transferring to cash only transactions and manually writing down inventory.
