Horses Begin Arriving for Oaklawn Park's 2013 Season

Horses are beginning to arrive at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs for the racetrack's 2013 season.

Oaklawn's barn area officially opened this morning.

Horses from the stables of trainers Kenny Smith and Steve Hobby were the first to arrive.

Smith's 20 horses came from Delaware Park, just outside Wilmington, while Hobby's eight came from Monmouth Park in New Jersey.

Oaklawn's track opens for training next Monday (November 19). Reserved seats go on sale the same day.
               
Oaklawn will open for the 2013 live racing season on Friday, January 11.

The 56-day meet will continue every Thursday through Sunday until Saturday, April 13.

Oaklawn will also have live racing on Monday, January 21, Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Monday, February 18, President's Day.
