Leah Thorvilson, who has won the Little Rock Marathon each of the last four years, announced on Wednesday that she has been invited to run as an elite athlete in next month's race in New York.
Thorvilson also participated in this year's Olympic trials.
Only 50 or so women are invited to race at the elite level in New York each year, and Leah received her marathon bib today, something she calls a huge honor.
"I would put this up on a pedestal as far as race experience of a lifetime along with the Olympic trials. I know it's one of the greatest marathon fields assembled in the world," Thorvilson said.
The New York Marathon will be broadcast live Sunday, Nov.4 on ESPN2.
