Solar panels that cost taxpayers just over a half a million dollars and stayed unplugged for about three years are finally on.

Entergy spokeswoman Julie Munsell confirmed to KARK that the company turned them on Tuesday morning. The panels are located outside the State Library and Economic Development Commission offices on West Capitol Avenue. A legal issue kept the project dark for years.

The issue triggered a backlash in may from the conservative group "Americans For Prosperity". The group gets much of its money from the Koch brothers who own Koch Industries, one of the largest privately held oil and gas companies in the U.S.

OK...check my take on this...a government building could spen LESS TAX money on energy...so a "political" group funded by oil and gas billionaires opposes it because it would cut into the personal profits of the BIGGEST high rollers in the Republican Party...really great concern for the average working taxpayer.
