Many know about the cardiovascular benefits of chocolate, but now a new study finds the sweet stuff can help prevent stroke in men
Swedish researchers found men who consumed the most chocolate per day had a 17% lower risk of stroke than men who ate no chocolate at all.
This protection is mostly likely because of the flavonoids in chocolate that may decrease bad cholesterol as well as blood pressure. Although, dark chocolate has been associated with heart benefits, the men in this study consumed milk chocolate.
One word of caution, as with any higher calorie food, if you eat too much the negative side effects can outweigh the good ones.
